I love the week after Christmas. It feels like it’s suspended in time with one year behind us and the other looming ahead. My entire family was on vacation for the week and we enjoyed a slower pace (and a bit more sleep). Here’s what I read, wrote, learned and loved over the past seven days….with an exciting reveal!
What I'm Reading:
It’s break week and you’d think that I’d read more books than usual…but that was NOT the case! But even though I only read one book, it was a pretty fantastic 5-star read for me with perfect timing to kick off the new year!
Three More Months by Sarah Echavarre
Oh, what a powerful book this was. Echavarre introduces us to Chloe, a high-achieving workaholic who has let her work take over her life in multiple ways. Burdened with guilt at the lack of time she’s given her mother, she takes a day off of work to visit only to learn of her mother’s sudden death. Stricken with grief, she falls into a deep depression filled with regret over her misguided attention to work and not family (and as someone who works a bit too much, that hit me hard). But inexplicably, she wakes on the day of her mother’s funeral to find her mother in the kitchen, not a hair out of place. Questioning the reality of these turn of events, but grateful for another chance, she makes the decisions she should have made: helping her mother get healthier, spending time with family, repairing relationship rifts and getting her priorities straight. Then something happens that unravels Chloe yet again, but just might bring her peace in the end.
What I'm Writing:
It’s time for my 22 for 2022 list! If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know I take Gretchen Rubin’s lead and create a list of things to do, be and accomplish throughout the year in place of typical new year’s resolutions. Here’s my 21 in 2021 list from last year:
I spent some time noting which things I accomplished and which I need to shift to my 22 in 2022 list to actually complete them, if I still felt the need. So, here’s my official 22 in 2022 list to guide my next twelve months of living:
And by the way, I used Scribble Stuff Felt Tip Pens to write this list and they are FABULOUS.
What I'm Learning:
This week, I unveiled my newest project for 2022: Get Lit(erate). I am so excited to launch this new community full of literate love! As I get ready to launch, I’ve been learning about digital course pages, the logistics of private Facebook groups, how to connect with booksellers for projects, how to create mobile screensavers on Canva (that’s a bonus for subscribers this month) and more. It’s been a learning curve, but I’ve loved every step of the process. If you’re curious about Get Lit(erate) and how it can help you create a life you love through reading and writing in 2022, then click here!
What I'm Loving:
Honestly, I tried to step away from my laptop this week and enjoy some downtime as much as I can. I’ve realized I’m pretty terrible at that, but am trying. =) Here are a few links that you might like as much as I did this week:
