I think I should start with a warning for this episode: a reader realized her bookish dream to chat with an author who has spoken to her heart many times and there may be a few happy tears throughout this episode. =)
Today, I am grateful and honored to talk with Kate DiCamillo, the award-winning novelist who shares her love of story far and wide to both children and adults alike.
We talk about the timeless nature of her books, her newest book, Ferris, and the moments where we found ourselves in the pages, Kate’s writing routines and even her favorite notebooks. I was completely inspired and love her reading and writing heart even more than before, which I didn’t think was possible.
Here are the books mentioned in this episode. You’ll find links to my Amazon and Bookshop affiliate stores below. Thanks for your bookish support!

What a great podcast! You and Kate seemed like good friends talking about Ferris. It was so interesting to hear you talk about “the timeless nature of her books…and the connection with characters.” and to have Kate thank you for that compliment and how she has” a longing for connection” that she hopes is evident in her books. It seems you connected with Kate over this book in ways that other interviewers hadn’t. Well done!!!
I also enjoyed Kate sharing her writing routines, process and her favorite notebooks!
I know I will listen to this podcast again and again! Thank you both!

Oh, Michele, it felt like we were two good friends on my end, too, which was the most amazing feeling. Ever. =) I still want to try her notebook and have a feeling I’d love it…and what a great idea for a 5 Year Journal! Thank you for listening!
